I have a good r/l friend who is pedo - I'm not really sure if he's ever been "active" or not - but I would, if I had kids, trust him in a heartbeat.
Here's the part that I find hard to explain - while I'm certain it's hard to know for sure how I'd react unless faced with it, I'm certain that even if he DID something that he wouldn't hurt them, because I know that underlying any attraction or action would be a fundamental caring and love for children, and respect for friends.
Does that make sense?
