Sort of a GM, but more of a musing

I formaly posted this on BC but I thought I might like to share it here.

OK, I just got my license a few weeks ago and I've been going out on my own running around doing this and that whenever I can. I went to the drive in by myself on Friday to see American Wedding (they don't check IDs, yay). Now mind you at the drive in the screen is on top of a big grassy hill and at the foot of that hill they have some plastic playground equipment for the kiddies to play on waiting for dusk. It wasn't that long ago I hung out up there with the other kids who were bored of the movie. Anyway, I was sitting in my car on the front row center and munching on overpriced refreshments when I notices some kids had went up there to play. There were two boys and a girl, the girl was younger (this will play in), and they were taking turns running at full speed across the knoll to get up the steep plastic slide, one of the boys at the top helped the little girl get all the way up. I was just looking and watching, paying attention. Anyway, I just sat there inside my compact metal invisibility cloak and watched them and what came to me really touched me. Watching those kids I thought to myself "wow, they are such beautiful creatures" and contemplating the certain oblivious grace of just running around and having fun. It wasn't really attraction, I'll stick to the teachers, not the students, thank you very much ;-) , just this profound appreciation. It was like what I have for my two baby cousins, 3 and 6. I think they are the most beautiful things ever and they never cease to captivate me because I love them so much. It's like that love was spread out. I don't come in contact with kids much (unless you count the 6th grade band kids) so this was kind of a new realization. Then when I thought about it more I realized this isn't something I would feel just being a teen. I know my peers. They think of little kids as pesky little siblings and their loud little friends. I knew that because of being part of this community, of BLs and GLs, it brought me to a greater understanding of the completely unique entity that children really are. An appreciation. And that made me smile, because I felt like a better person for it. I felt like that's how everyone should be, but aren't. So I guess I'm just saying thanks. Just by having your presence known you've made a positive change in at least one person. *HUGS* to all.

Sara
