Kero Chan from Cardcaptor Sakura, the character from which my nickname originally was derived, is also called the Guardian Beast of the Clow Cards - ie, he was the guardian created by master Clow when the cards were first created. It was Kero Chan's job to guard the cards and make sure they were NEVER freed into the world without a master, thus being allowed to cause havoc until they were again captured.
Unfortunately, Kero (Kerberos) was not much of a guardian beast, as the cards were released by a little girl (Sakura Chan) with some magical powers (the extent of which is later to be found quite ... incredible)
...But nowhere in all this does Kerberos lose his title as guardian of the clow cards, also known as the guardian beast ... so by using the term "guardian beast" to describe myself, I am merely alluding to Kerberos' role in the wonderfully pedo-friendly world of Cardcaptor Sakura.
A summary of Kero's names and their usage
Kerberos - What Kero likes to be called, because it sounds more impressive than Kero or Kero Chan. Wanting to be called by his more impressive name defies Japanese culture (that of being humble) in a most comical fashion.
Kero - Short for Kerberos. His friends often call him Kero, much as a family member might call somebody by a nickname or shortened version of their real name.
Kero Chan - literally "cute Kero" Chan is used in Japan on children to signify either youth or the state of kawaii (cute) attributed as such. We don't really have an equivalent in english that I'm aware of. But it's typical in Japan to call a child chan or kun (in the case of boys) ... or children might call each other "chan" or "kun", such as how Sakura calls her friend "Li Kun". Kero really hates being called "chan" at first (because he likes to think he's rather impressive, and being called by a child's name is the furthest removed from his own self image), but he gets used to it later on.
Guardian Beast - As explained above, this merely means that he guards the magical cards created by Master Clow

All that said, I am not quite Kero from Cardcaptor Sakura, though he is an inspiration. Just imagine, getting to spend all your time living with a little girl as cute and as sweet as Sakura Chan!!! Wai!!! (wai=woohoo)
So now, what's the justification behind your usage of Guardian? ;)
Kero
"I AM the Guardian Beast, but I will never be the Guardian."
