I finally got to meet her (GM)

There is an older couple living about 6 houses down from me. I don't know them, other than to say 'hi' when I see them. From time to time I've seen their granddaughter over there. She is about 10 and majorly cute, but I've never had any real chance to meet her. Last year, the grandparents had a yard sale, and I got to spend about 2 minutes talking to her. They had another yard sale this year; I'll talk about that in another post.

Today, there was a neighborhood fall festival. There was a hayride, and some games. Late in the afternoon, I decided to walk my dog down to it. Getting there meant walking past the grandparents' house, and I saw that the girl's mother was there. At the festival, there were lots of kids, many of whom came over to pet my dog. One of them was the girl. A short while later, I saw her head toward the gate, to head (presumably) back to her grandparents' house. After a brief discussion with my dog, we decided it was time for us to go, too. We had to walk past about 12 houses to get to her grandparents. About 8 from the grandparents' house, she looked back and saw we were behind her. She stopped to wait for us catch up and then she started talking to me and asking questions. We talked (actually she talked and I listened) all the way back to her grandparents' house. Along the way, she pointed out her house (I didn't realize she lived that close) and told me her name.

When we got back to her grandparents' house we stopped and talked some more out on the sidewalk. Her grandmother was up by the house and called to her. She said "I'll be there in few minutes; I'm busy now."

Her grandmother came down to join us. At some point, the question of where I lived came up. Before I had a chance to answer, the girl pointed out my house. "He lives right there. That's why I walked here with him."

I apologize for the length. I haven't had a really good GM in a while. I feel pretty good right now.
