GM at McD's

I was having lunch yesterday at a McD's near my work. Ahead of me in line were a couple of lg's, about 4 & 7, with two women. I only heard them speaking Spanish, so I don't know if any of therm spoke English or not. One of the women gave me a less-than-friendly look, so I sat on the other side of a low partition from them.

After finishing eating, the 4 y/o came around the partition and stood about two feet from my table and just looked at me. I smiled at her, but got no reaction. She just looked at me for about 30 seconds, then went back to her table. She did this two or three times. I made eye contact with one of the women, and smiled at her.

The next time the 4 y/o came around the partition, I started playing peek-a-boo with her. Finally, she laughed at this, and we played this for a couple of minutes. She would hide behind the partition, then poke her head around it. I'd "find" her, she'd laugh, and duck behind the partition again. The rest of her group noticed this, and I got smiles from them, too.

I had used up my lunch hour, and had to get back to my office. Just before I went out the door, I turned and waved to her, even though they were across the dining aarea from the door. To my surprise (and delight), she and the woman I assume to be her mother waved back. A pretty good lunch hour for me.
