...who can decide what she wanted as we(we meaning everyone and everything) were not there to witness the ineffable hints as to what she was thinking.

Think back, how did she act?

What was the tone of her voice?

How about her emotional state?

What about her expressions?

Too often those things are too subtle to describe to someone who wasn't
there to witness it with their own eyes.

You were the only one who witnessed it first-hand, therefore, if you
can remember the situation well enough, I suggest looking at the
subtle clues and concluding her motives AND "the line" for yourself.

...While staying away from obvious trouble, of course.
