I'm not saying that Amma's words have NO truth to them when it comes to certain types of people. Of course there are people like she describes, and from what I've seen of her, I can certainly believe that she has met many, many of them in her life, and she certainly bears the personality traits to attest to it. I sure as hell am not going to be afraid to say this, and if any sycophants of her's want to take a few shots at me for daring to be honest about their sweetheart...let them try, because I have a few words for them.

However, I firmly believe that there are some people who give others compliments for less pernicious reasons than she described...because they truly mean the compliments, and they truly adore the person who they made them to. I think you fall into this category, Spike, and I can understand the sentiments you expressed fully. I don't think you're one of those people that Amma described, even though I concede that such people do exist. If you ever should meet one of those girls who "doesn't take compliments well," then you should run from them screaming. Trust me on that. I understand that even sincere compliments can be overdone, but there are some people out there who will truly appreciate them, not because they "need" compliments to assuage an impoverished ego, but because they truly appreciate receiving them from someone who they know loves them a lot.
