Whatever happened to the kids? (GM??)

I went to the decades old tradition of the end-of-season school meeting...
(I will try to give you all details without it becoming a virtual coming out, but it's gonna be hard)
I talked to my share of my ex teachers, and they all are quite pleased with how my life is going overall. I was hinted that a new project could be launched next term - one project requiring ME. I should have mixed feelings, but I don't. If it happened it would be awesome in many senses.
I talked to the kids, well, no longer kids... that I knew. Quite interesting to see how they were going. But here I have mixed feelings. It is sometimes plain appalling to see how some of them who used to be so bright and smart have started to be conformed into societal molds. It shouldn't be surprising, least of all to me, but it is. And it is sad. I really miss the way they were. And don't tell me it is part of growing up - it has little, if anything, to do with that. It is just that they ceased to be the inquisitive, active minds they were.
Also to be sad about, less of them were present that I expected, and that would be desirable.
But not all of it was bad. Middle schoolers, especially two of them, were so cute. Wow!!!
And, as I expected, and topping it all... I saw V. She is another of my truly life-changing loves. Although I fell for her quite at the same time as M., and that made her second to her in my heart back when she was 9 (btw, I learned that she is a year older than I thought... mmmh, that's weird, I'm good at remembering ages). Anyway, second as she was at nine, I have also fond memories of her. She was maybe more in love with me than viceversa back then, and twice showed it in a funny way (I already posted about that... in the line-crossing thread). But later, at 12-13, she truly left M. behind. While M became such a stereotypical teenager and I lost all my interest in her (though she's still cute at least for her age), V did not. She kept that spark of life all through and continued to be the same curious, life-hungry girl of always... And I am (still now) in love with her. She is a dream come true. She's now 17, but, if her height is average for 17, the rest of her body seems to have stopped at lovely 12-13... yep! And her mind is, in a way, intact. I somehow feel that it is just the same girl she used to be at nine, just a little more experienced and world-aware than then. She is still, as I said, the bright, inquisitive kid that won't take a no for an answer and will fight for her dream...
Before the end of the year, she'll be allowed to vote and shoot porn... but I love her as if she were still the nine-year-old. Maybe different, as I know I could cross the line now, for one thing!... but just as deep as before, maybe even deeper...
Yeah, she has a bf now, the kind of brat teen you'd expect as the bf of a cute 17yo... but her eyes to me told me more than that... or is it just me?? Whether or not it's just me... I love her!!! and had to share this with you...
