I can attest to that

Last week I was in a science store in the rocks and minerals section and I was looking at some bismuth jumper crystals when a girl about 10 walked up to me and asked me what they were. I explaned it to her and she told me that I know a lot and for the next 10 minutes we talked about our rock and fossil collections. She told me her name was Robin and I told her my name and we really hit it off but then my ride was leaving so I had to go. I really wish I had got her E-mail or something because she had a lot of the same interests as me and it would have been great to keep in touch but I got kind of nervous so I didn't ask :(

It's true though, this kind of thing happens to me quite a bit, often at the gas station where I work.

I was actually thinking about this earlier today after reading a very interesting article in scientific american magazine. A study was done using human pheromones which found that heterosexual women and homosexual men respond the strongest to male hormones and homosexual women and heterosexual men respont the strongest to female hormones. This isn't surprizing. But what *IS* surprizing is that there is a difference in the pheromones released by heterosexuals of a particular gender and homosexuals of the same gender, and that homosexuals respond the strongest of all to pheromones from other homosexuals of the same gender. For example, a gay man will react more to the pheromones from a gay man than he will to those from a strait man. This study confirms reports from gays that they seem to have a sixth sense for finding and attracting other gay men, almost like an aura that they have. It also supports the idea that sexual orientation is genetic, rather than learned (a learned behavior would not change the pheromones that a person releases).

I suspect that a similar process is in effect with childlovers. Perhaps we release a certain pheromone or combination of pheromones which children are naturally attuned to? If you want to read the article, pick up the latest issue (July) of Scientific American.
