There's nothing like a happy lg (GM)

A few months ago, I started what became a weekly ritual with Y (a cute lg, about 4y/o). When she would arive at church with her family, I'd give her a "high five." She'd laugh, and her family would continue on to where they were going to sit. At one point, her father told me that she had told him "I can't wait until next Sunday!" When he asked her why, she said "So I can see that man again!"

A month or so ago, through no fault of my own, I came into possession of a beach toy, suitable for a small child. My kids are in their 20's; no grandkids. I immediately thought of Y. After clearing it with Y's dad, I approached her with the toy. She asked "Who is that for?" When I said "Actually, it's for you", she got all excited, took it from me, and gave me a hug (as best she could, given her arms were full of the toy). The smile on her face was a delight to see. The next week, she brought in a hand-made card meant to function as a 'Thank-you' card. Both of us walked away very happy.
