You don't see any practical steps being taken, therefore they are not being taken. Brilliant logic. Lindsy (AP) has a website explaining the position of MAAs in great detail and it has attracted considerable media attention. Just the other day he was interviewed by reporter from a US television network. Kevin (Remo) tried to produce a play. He also, (in my opinion a little unwisely,) called up a talk radio host and spoke about MAA position. While he has suffered serious consequences for his actions, his present activities in his defense are themselves a kind of activism, in that he is publicising them and openly arguing for justice. I personally have spoken at political meetings on the need for youth rights. I and others have done such things as distributing copies of the UN Declaration of Universal Human Rights to teenagers, and discussed youth rights with members of childrens theater groups and art clubs. As far as real world success here in Japan, a small rural community has recently granted youth from age 12 the right to vote in local referendum, (although i certainly do not claim any personal responsibility for that, yet the decision of that community was very likely influenced by climate induced by activism such as i engage.) Concerning other members of GC having "no idea of other GLer board." How do you know that a number of us are not perhaps involved in another board which is devoted to activism and may actually have distributed fliers in bookstores and university campuses, and made contact with other political activist groups to exhange ideas and promote publication of articles pointing out facts and dispelling myths regarding MAAs? It is most amusing that you accuse us of doing nothing of practical value while you have never told us what actions you take, nor even proposed an idea of what form of activism you recommend, despite my repeated request for you to do so in the above post. Keep up the good work, great champion. |
