GM at Work

While working yesterday, I was working behind the counter organizing some movies. A little girl (maybe 3 or 4 years old) came in carried by her dad. They were renting a movie or two. The LG was very cute and friendly, saying hello to everyone in the store, including all of us employees. Just before they were finished signing out their movies, I headed into the back room to put a couple empty cases away. At first I heard her saying good bye to the cashier that had helped them. Then I heard the girl starting to freak out and crying, "No wait! Wait!" I came back out of the back, having put the cases away, and the girl was upset, with puffy red cheeks and tears streaming down her face. It was heart breaking so see. But the moment she saw me the tears stopped and she smiled broadly. She gave a little glare to her dad, as if to say, "See, I told you he'd be back." I smiled at her and she waved to me, saying, "Bye." I waved back and said good bye. And then they left. I asked the cashier what that was about and the woman said the girl was freaking out because they were starting to leave without the girl getting to say bye to me.
It was pretty adorable. She had to say good bye to all the employees before she left. And maybe me smiling at her before hand had made her want to say bye to me even more. Either way, it was cute.
