A friend of mine who about a year ago due to circumstances that were out of his control began to raise his then 10 yo neice. Truthfully its the best thing that ever happened to him and although he and I have never really openly discussed it, we know from each others history and such that we are LGL's. He used to work with me but during a troubled marriage, he took on a different job and moved across town. We basically get together for sporting events and such although not as occasional as we should perhaps, but never the less, he knows that I occasionally have my little friend over on weekends and although the two girls go to differrent schools, being the same age they are friends. He called Friday evening and asked if we wanted to go around town Saturday and just hang around with the girls. I agreed and he said they would drive over Saturday just prior to noon.
After a brief hello's and how are you's we decided to go in my SUV. The girls picked out where they wanted to go eat and we did, my friend and I just engaged in conversation as did the girls about whatever 11 yo's talk about. It was decided after lunch that we should go to the mall. The girls would rush ahead of us browse here and there and come back with a "you got to see this come quick lets go" a few times and in fact we both bought them some outfits, music and such. It sort of gave me joy to see that both girls were having fun and basicaly as is the norm were choosing matching outfits, the same music and such. By now we had been going around for about 3 hours and I asked the girls what they wanted to do and even suggested a movie but I suppose they had secretly planned something else, they wanted to go to a photo place and take pictures in their matching outfits. This particular place has several dressing areas and would have the photos ready in about an hour give or take a few minutes due to how busy they were. So after the pictures were taken and the prints they liked were picked we had an hour to kill. My friend whisperd that they wanted to go to the Mega Mart (not the real name) to pick some panties etc that she and I had discussed the day prior. I said something like "OH yea I forgot OK" and off we went.
The girls had a shopping cart and they went straight to the panty and bra section but it was obvious that the matching items they were selecting was difficult to find in the S (small) size. By now my friend and I are deep into a conversation regarding this years income tax returns and deductions. Trying to come up with strageties on how to get the best return. I looked to he girls who had loaded some cute thongs, bikini type panties and some nice halter tops and even a semi sheer set of pijamas. We went to the crowded check out stand that are bunched up very close and within hearing distance of anyone's conversation. I purposely picked out a check out with an older female clerk having learned that sometimes some younger clerks ask such questions as, is this your daughter, and those type of questions which I regard as a bit nosey. By now my friend and I are into the return advantages of he claiming his neice this past tax year and he says that as soon as the return comes in with the extra money he and his neice will go to Disney for Spring Break. I responded with something like "I need to find some way to do that". I had not realized that the girls after splitting up the items for us to pay for were now listening to us and although I had observed some other shopers eyeing the girls items and giving those looks of question, I was totally shocked when my little friend wishing to also be a part of the Disney trip hollers "Oh _____ (my name) I want you to do me !!!" I looked at her in wonderment, looked at my friend who was caught off guard, noticed the clerks reaction, saw some shoppers in the next few check outs looking at us, and I and my friend just began laughing. She reaized what she had just blurted out and turned beet red. As we proceeded to walk out of the store I gave her a reassuring hug and told her it was Ok that no one really took it wrong and kissed the top of her head. She was Ok and simply stated she couldn't believe she had said that. On the way home my friend and I giggled a few times and the girls just kept on with their conversation.
By the way the pictures were superb.
