GM - Eyes For Me

While working tonight, I had an adorable 13 month old girl lifted to sit on the counter by my till. She was so cute. She had big blue eyes and short boy-cut blonde hair. She wore a pink and purple corderoy dress with white underclothes.

She didn't say anything, but stared at me wide-eyed with her little mouth hanging open and the occasional smile peaking at the corners of her mouth. I had to run around to a few different spots behind the counter getting things and the entire time the little girl stared at me. One of my co-workers, a woman, thought the girl was adorable too and was talking to her from a short distance away. But it turned out the girl wasn't paying any attention to my co-worker at all, but was still staring at me, right behind the woman. The woman kept talking to the girl as I walked back to my till, and the little girl's stare and head followed me until I was right beside her and she stared up at me. I smiled at her and said hello, and finished my job with the customer. When she left, my co-worker said, "Wow, you sure had her attention." I smiled, loving my mysterious appeal to children, but at the same time feeling a little bad that my co-worker had made such an effort to get the girl's attention and fail miserably. She's even a new mom.

I've said it many times, that I think a lot of us CLs simply attract the attention and affection of little kids without trying. I don't know exactly why that is, because I don't even have to do or say anything to get their attention. I think in this instance, maybe I just looked facinating to this girl. But I was very flattered. And the 13 month old really made my night.
