You are treading dangerous ground. Befriending children in this way will just lead to temptation.

Well, thanks for reasserting that you're a rather pathetic uncle tom with zero emotional depth or human reason.

Of course, the problem isn't this - though it does lead to pity - but rather that you demand that everyone in the world be exactly like you.

Incidentally...

You will end up falling in love with your "little friend" and live a life of frustration and misery.

Falling in love with - and moving in to live with in an open commited relationship - my "little friend" has actually been a life of joy and satisfaction in my experience.

Your mileage, of course, may vary.

If you want to wander around in some sort of deranged self-loating - that's your choice. Whatever makes you happy.

It's when you forcefully evangelize it that it becomes a problem.
