The one which doesn't use faulty emotional reasoning in an attempt to explain why persecution has been somewhat successful.

You see, if a mythologized "everyone" is 'against us,' this absolves us of responsibility for improving our situation - which is used as the sole motivation for such a belief.

The fact that this conflicts with the observation of everyone who has gotten off their ass, done the polling, asked the questions, and had successful domestic partnerships is not the point. Accurate, but not the point.

More noteworthy as a rebuttal to this faulty emotional reasoning is the fact that it stands contrary to the last several millenia of human history.

In fact, human history has been universally characterized by one single phenomenon - a humane, moral, tolerant and cowardly majority dominated by a sadistic, violent, intolerant minority - and a tiny minority at that.

This has been seen repeatedly, time and time again - in the 16th and 17th centuries, it was a minority "vice squad" which persecuted homosexuals, while the majority at large, at best, didn't care. In the 19th and 20th century US south, only a miniscule fraction wore the robes, the rest... were either too afraid to stand (or moved to the north and stood from there), or else they didn't care...

...and today, everyone accepts you, but no one wants their friends to know... to capitalize on reports on this board. ;) Marka, aR, et al.

The portion of the populace with anti-ped sentiment has been routinely characterized as about 10%. By everyone, of every ideology, who has ever had a concrete chance to discover. Concurrently, the number of people of those who don't care that believe in standing up to bullies is also been repeatedly noted at about 10%.

...with time, this usually shifts to about 5%/15% as those who were just "on the bandwagon" drop out - and usually apologize before joining the 80% apathy - and those who were in the apathetic 80% who wanted to speak out discover that they will not in fact face "universal ostracism" for standing up for what they feel is right, and in fact that it won't grow beyond the tiny minority.

Leave "plausible deniability" in the picture, and that 10-15% will function as 90-95%.

...conversely, when first knowledge is gained from the 10% anti faction, it'll look like 10/90%, with the ordinary apathetic-but-friendly and the portion who hates bullies silenced, in a direct inversion of the "discovery with plausible deniability" case.

With enough time and observation, or just with a life well-lived, the whole world would look like GC, 95% friendly and 5% troll, or so.

Face it. From the moment you are outed in anything but a "televised kiddysex scandal" - and I mean anything - you are the observational test case...

...for the true moral majority - the silent, the cowardly, the good at heart. The 95% of the world.
