Rain: a GM

There were a lot of cute girls at work, and even a few instances where I could converse and be of assistance to some. But my shift came to a close and I headed home.

As I hit the sidewalk, I could feel rain on my head, and it was starting to intensify. So I ducked under an awning to grab my umbrella. It takes a little struggling, and I have to look up at it to make sure the spokes on the old bumbershoot haven't given out.

When I look down, theres a 7 or 8 year old girl looking up at me. She's got long straight blonde hair and is dressed in jeans and a pink jacket. Having made sure she's got my attention she gives me a big grin ( sans a few teeth ) and lets out a very theatrical, "Ahhhhhh." of relief and satisfaction. I give her a big grin too and head out about the same time that her family catches up with her.

It took me the better part of the block to figure out what she was doing. She wanted to share the pleasure of getting out of the rain with me. And more importantly, wanted to know that I knew this.

I did my best to walk a little less briskly. But her family's path parted from mine by the end of the block.

I usually don't try to "create" a Girl Moment; it seems so contrived. But I was utterly delighted that she went so far as to "create" a Dante Moment for herself.
