To me, it seems to serve no purpose whatsoever.

Name tags serve the purpose of helping people to identify each other by name. I would have thought that was obvious. :P

Whenever I move into a new environment with new people, whether it's a work thing or a leisure thing, it always takes me ages before I can remember everyone's names. Even if I didn't like 8-year-old girls (which, I hasten to add, I do!), I would have been overjoyed for this girl to arrive in any of these places.

It would have saved me from many embarrassing moments, I can assure you, Mr. Dividend. :)
