My “call” is in opposition to trying to promote the idea that being a Girl/Boy/Child Lover makes a person inherently inclined to act in the interests of kids. That’s the sort of thing these charity efforts do. Unless it’s accepted that being attracted to kids gives a person a unique perspective that is beneficial to children (which it doesn’t), then what’s pointless is for such a group to start its own organisation to affect the lives of kids.

You’ve never come across me before, but I’ve voiced my opposition to this sort of paedo identity politics in the past, and will likely continue to do so. Promoting a Girl Lover identity in public would be nightmare. All the ‘valid’ sexual identities are self-contained, insofar as the behaviours that define them really only apply to other members of that identify group: homosexuals love homosexuals, heterosexuals love heterosexuals, etc. Out identity though is tied up with the identity of the ‘child’ (that is, all the cultural bullshit that surrounds being a ‘minor’ today, not just the biology of not having started puberty). It isn’t self-contained. The gay rights movement realised quite early on that the identity politics route would be a non-starter if it could be made to look as if their sexual identity was interfering with ‘normal’ people’s domination over their kids. They dealt with the problem by ditching NAMBLA, and becoming among the most vocal opponents of child-adult sex. They sacrificed the freedom of kids, and of adults who love kids, in return for some social acceptance. They became something akin to society’s sexual house niggers, while we were left in the field. We don’t have the same option to abandon kids open to us, but anything that we do as Girl Lovers that is actually calculated to affect kids is like dancing around merrily even though the field we’re in is mined. All the hysteria that mainstream homos felt coming towards them, and that today manifests itself in a general crackdown on anything perv-related, would be channelled right on to the Girl Lover identity as if it were a lightning rod. Until things move beyond identity politics, then our room to manoeuvre is severely curtailed.
