The risks I mentioned apply to all of the people who benefit from these boards, not just myself, and they’re far from theoretical.

This community currently isn’t in a position to engage with the public as anything other than witches.

Not “in spite of” the good such an effort will do; any good it does will be miniscule compared to the very probable negative repercussions is such a thing becomes public. Any good done simply won’t matter in the long run.

People here need to stop deluding themselves into thinking that all we have to do is show the world that there are nice paedophiles as well as nasty paedophiles, and then the public will say ‘oh, that’s OK then! We got this silly notion into our heads that you were all babyrapers. Now that you’ve cleared that up, here’s a mainstream sitcom with a popular, hilarious paedo character!’ The reason the paedophile identity exists is to demonise all of us. Using it with the public is like pleading 'please Mr McCarthy, I'm a patriotic communist!'
