1.) Keep it civil please, no ad hominem attacks or personal insults.
2.) If you are posting an opinion make it clear by stating 'it's my view'
or 'I think', don't state opinions as factual. Likewise if you want to make
a point with facts then back them up with evidence please.
3.) Under no circumstance will it be ok to mention child abuse with a view
to it being acceptable behaviour. This debate is about non offending paedophiles
not about sex offenders, that's a whole other topic that I am not even going
to debate.
4.) Godwins law applies to this blog at all times, if I invoke godwins law
then you automatically lose the argument.
I recognize many of us will have issues with number three but let's get our foot in the door and reclaim our humanity before we start dragging in the whole AoC debate, shall we? As she said above AoC is a whole 'nother debate. Let's get them to acknowledge we're human and that we are not offenders by default first before we start talking about anything else. Oh and for those who will seek to twist my words there is no 'hidden agenda' here, just statement of facts... In the Civil Rights movement Jim Corw wasn't dismantled in a day--it was brought down piece by piece as people realized that the other wasn't quite as alien as they originally thought...I'm saying the same thing here--until you Antis can see we're not the monsters you think we are and it is possible to break through the many misconceptions there is no hope for honest discussion.
Let's give it a go guys...Serai seems to be an open minded person--not unlike the 'Angry Momma' blogger Demosthenes mentioned earlier. This is a chance to engage people in honest discussion of the issues....let's not waste it!
