(a) Kindness drains energy fruitlessly when dealing with those who choose to make themselves less than human.

(b) Attacking people drains energy fruitlessly.

As for "stirring up their rebellion," and "reinforcing their resoluteness," I really doubt that it's going to make a damn bit of difference when the people under discussion are koolaid-drinking facists who just like to hurt people.

So... no biggie.
