...at the early ages I do not think the gender of the older friend matters very much. I think an older female who treated and interacted with my 7-year-old "crush" the same way I do might well receive in return the same affection as I do. However, when she gets to be 9 or 10 it might be different...

Anyway, I would be very happy to just be close friends with several LGs.
