I agree with you on the younger ones. I think of my own situation, and how I imagine the 5 to 7-year-old girls would react. The girls I associate with in this age range are mostly very outgoing. I think their reaction would vary from oblivious ("What?") to unconcerned ("Gross! Let's have a snack!")

The older girl I know (~11) is VERY shy. I think she would be nervous if she knew ALL of how I felt about her. The reason for the nervousness? Possibly that she has no concept of the idea that anyone other than a boy very close in age to her would ever think of her "that" way. Other girls her age who are more confident and outgoing - well, I could see them being flattered and enjoying the thought that a "man" thinks of them sexually.

I also think that any girl's reaction will also depend on how well she knows you and whether she hears it directly from you or second hand. If she has already spent many hours of one-on-one time with you when she learns how you feel about her, she is more likely to react positively than if she hardly knows you and hears the news from a friend.
