I can recall, a number of years ago, hearing of an incident of a teacher being reprimanded (and possibly suspended) because he had put out his arm to stop a child, who was racing at top speed down a school corridor, from crashing into a row of coat pegs. The school had a policy of no physical contact under any circumstances.
