So what's an MM, you ask?

Read on and find out!

Sunday I was at a small semi-fast-food restaurant [not one of the big famous chains] and I encountered a family of three waiting for their to-go order, while I waited for my not-to-go order. Mom and two girls: ages approx. 10 [or a tall nine] and fourteen [or a tall thirteen]. Both girls were good looking, as was the mom. The youngest was my type [skinny] with pretty blonde hair and soft blue eyes, and glasses. Which is where the story gets interesting.

The young girl was sitting on her mom's lap cuddling up to her mom, while older sister was standing facing them, with her back to me, so she didn't see what happened.

Young girl caught my eye and gave me a hint of a half-smile, whereas I gave her the full big-smile treatment. Whereupon she also gave me a big smile, slid off her mom's lap, and took off her glasses and handed them to her mom. Then she began to preen for me, standing sidways to me, and tipping her head forward, giving me sly looks out from under the side of her bangs, to make sure I was still watching.

I was, of course. She preened like a bird of paradise, smoothing her hair, fluffing it up, fluffing up her floor-length pastel dress, rearranging her neckline to make sure the maximum amount of skin showed, etc., all the while giving me a glance every two or three seconds to make sure I was still watching.

Before my eyes, she transformed herself from a bookish-looking student-type into a beautiful photographer's model, using nothing but her hands and eyes for the transformation.

Pretty soon her mother noticed what was going on and gave me a big smile herself, as though to say, 'She's really something, isn't she?' And I nodded and smiled back.

It took about ten minutes for their food to be ready. By this time I was in awe. This girl, who had struck me as slightly plain when I came in, had become a raving beauty before my eyes. Not a word was said-- eveything was non-verbal.

When I first entered, young sister had been very much in older sister's shadow, both literally and also in terms of looks. By the time it was over, she put her older sister very much to shame in the looks department.
She simply CHANGED herself from the girl she had been into a different girl, totally eclipsing her sister.

When their food was ready, the mom got it, then shepherded the girls out. As they left, first mom gave me another big grin, then young girl gave me the biggest grin of all, and showed her teeth, which were perfect. She even shook her hair in my direction as she waltzed by.

Older sister brought up the rear, totally oblivious to everything. She never even saw me, never saw what her sister was up to, never saw her mom's acknowledgement of it, nothing. Totally tuned out.

It was one of the nicer Girl Moment/Mom Moment combinations I've ever enjoyed.
