I would have to agree with you. In the interest of progress in our cause, we must make certain concessions. What is defined as a abuse is just going to have to be one of them. We don't have to support the status quo, but arguing with it makes CL look like they are trying to justify sex with children...

Although it can be said that certain sexual contact with minors is not necessarily harmful, the antis are a long way off from seeing this. This is where we must take their side in order to help justify our cause.

Think about it, if CL are able to show their face in the light then un-undoubtedly researchers will jump on the chance to put more emphasis into this area of study. So leave it to the researchers to argue this point, but not us.
