You seem to miss the point here.

The problem is not that Jack is public with his attractions. The problem is that so few of us are public with our attractions. Jack does not have to 'disappear'. It is the fear, the hatred and the hypocrisy in society that has to disappear.

What society most wants is to isolate pedophiles and make us into individuals, special cases that can be dealt with separately. This is how repression has always worked. What society fears the most is to realize that the 'uncommon' is common. Society fears the pedophile in itself.

We live in a time where the child is erotized and commercialized as never before. How ironic. Children have become great consumers, and they are taught from early on to make themselves attractive so as to achieve something in this world. Society is made for the young. Society feeds on the young.

Pedophiles are hated because we reveal the fallacy of this erotization. A fundamental conflict arises when society's erotization of the child is confronted with society's notion of what sex is: the pornography, the prostitution, the commercialization, the alienation and self-centeredness.

We live in a time with a collective neurosis. Society suffers from "The Abused Child" and the conditions are "feelings of anxiety, obsessional thoughts, compulsive acts and physical complaints without objective evidence of disease".
