I've been going to this church for roughly 3 months and I play with all the children (there are well over 30 boys and girls of all ages) playing games like tag, baseball, basketball etc.
I've grown to love these kids very much (and vise versa) they mean everything to me (Ive written about other GMs in other posts).
Well theres this one incredibly cute but very shy little girl (Id say between 8-10) who I talk with every once in a while (Im friends with the rest of her family so we do bump into each other but today things changed every 2 weeks we have lunch and then go out to the elderly home (after our regular service) and have a church service for them well during the lunch G said her first joke (of course it was about me but it marked a break through) it caught me by surprise her mother then commented "G has gotten used to you" (meaning I broke through her shyness) I didn't do anything special, just talked with her when i got the chance (got her to laugh quite often) and waited patiently.
At the elderly home I had to first help get things set up for the service and after that I sat down G then got up from her seat in the front row and moved to the seat next to me, through out the service she would attempt to take my bible away from me, and when she failed to get it she would just smile at me; to keep her interested I would pretend I wasnt paying attention/take my fingers off the bible so she would think she could grab it and right as her fingers flew out to try and take it I would quickly clamp my fingers down to prevent it from being taken but made her think she had been close (at the end of the service I purposely let her take it) I would turn to look at her after that and she would just smile at me (her smile/looks could literally melt the hardest persons heart).
Well I had to get up a couple times to go help the elderly folks turn to the right pages when it was time for singing and when I sat back down she had taken the bible! I let her keep it for a while and then on the 2nd song I came back and she had taken my hymn book to lol! So first I shared with her brother and then ended up sharing with her (making it so we had to sit pretty close so we could both see the book).
Like I said she is pretty shy so she doesnt sing very loud but since we were so close I could make out her small voice and lets just say wow :) she can certainly sing. Well during the regular evening service G walked in and just smiled at me and again attempted to snag my bible a couple of times before the actual service began (it was harder since she was in the pew in front of me).
With the rest of the kids at church I didnt have to work that hard to get their friendship/trust but with this LG It took 3 months to break through her shyness and that is what makes it so special.
My work will again take me away all week, but I have the weekend to look forward to :)
I love all little girls/boys but sadly everyone has their favorites and she is definitively one of them.
This is a lot longer than I had meant, but oh well.
LG lover 4 life
