A GM

Today I had the best GM I've had in a long time. I'm currently on vacation in the Southwest, and I decided to spend sometime at the motel pool. A group of Hispanic older teens and younger kids came to the pool. Apparently, at least three families were represented, and I haven't any idea who was related to whom. I was particularly interested in two girls (about 5 and 9) and two boys (about 9 and 10). At first I just watched them all in the water, except the 5 y/o girl. She didn't have a bathing suit on, was just sitting on the side of the pool. They were all playing with a beach ball, batting it around. It would occasionally bounce near me, and I would hit it back. Finally the 10 y/o boy invited me to join them. I made sure that I hit the ball the 5 y/o. After about 15 minutes, she left, and came back with her bathing suit on.

For the next two hours, I split my time between playing with the 9 y/o boy and 5 y/o girl. At times, she and I were the only ones in the pool. Others were going over to the jacuzzi. We played catch with the ball, or I would spin her in the inflatable ring she was floating in. It was great to spend time with just her.

After about two and half hours, the parents, who had been coming in and out of the pool enclosure (but never in the water), called most them to their suite for some food. That left me in the jacuzzi with the 10 y/o boy and another boy, about 14. Then one of the adults asked those two boys to join them. Being alone wasn't much fun, so I went to my room. After going out for supper, I went to a local baseball game.

When I returned to my motel, I went up to my room. Out in the hallway about 15 rooms down, were the 10 y/o boy and 5 y/o girl. They waved, I waved back, and they came running down the hall to see me. We talked for a couple minutes, then they had to back to their room (it was after 10pm). That 5 y/o girl is one of the cutest and sweetest girls I've spent time with in a long time. I'm hoping to see them again tomorrow, perhaps more pool time with all of them.
