An unrealized eradicator of ageism
Posted by Trucker on 2008-November-18 10:32:38 EST, TuesdayAt the Rock Band booth there were two men on guitar and drums, one Oriental boy on the other guitar, and a Hispanic AG on the microphone. I think they were doing "Message In A Bottle," and although the girl couldn't sing worth squat (flame time) the fantastic thing in my view was that there were four people, unrelated and different races, just jamming away. No thought to age or status; just get on down. The song itself was fitting to our cause; sending out a message to all the souls out there wanting freedom.
This is one of many instances. I was at a gym buddy's house Friday night and he and three teenage boys were all playing Halo 3. And those boys were his "homies" because they all skate and drink beer together. BEER! No "grooming" for sex (as the antis peddle such behavior as), no hierarchy, no strife; we were just five guys hanging out playing video games. And yes I suck at Guitar Hero (my old man fingers can't move fast enough - LOL).
Sometimes I get irked by the stupidity of our male culture, but there are some things about this techno-culture that is progressively making age nothing but a number.
