"i am investigating and have considerable supporting data for is the idea that feminizing factors ... activation..."
Sorry, I just can't follow it. The underlying (unexamined) assumptions connecting "feminizing" and "nurturing" and "pedophilia" - well, let's leave homosexuality out of it and even pedophilia out of it, because it's a joke of a definition (with no scientific basis - just a medico-legal label).
I think it more likely that sexual interest in too-young girls was probably selected for in the EEA in the manner Symons describes, but that any kind of near-exclusive attraction is an artifact. Since most of these men who liked too-young girls went on and reproduced (like they do today), their (genetically-based) preferences would not be eliminated from the gene-pool.
Until you show what "feminizing" factors are (I'm just ROTFL, really), and that men who like underage girls have heightened nurturing impulses and are more "feminine" (as opposed to just wanting to fuck them, since MOST men have nurturing impulses) in a statistically significant population of men, and across cultures, you'll have a hard time convincing me that this isn't yet another garbage social theory in science drag.
"the point is that the 'normal' sexual preference in adult humans and other mammals is for other adults of the opposite sex, and while this may not be an exclusive preference, it is the dominant one."
This is way too breezy. The preference is for nubility (see Symons), not "adulthood" (whatever that means). As Symons observes, if the Yanomami had an edition of Playboy, there would be no females as old as 21, but there would be females as young as 14. I think you are using "preference" here in an imprecise manner. Nubility is the peak at the top of the curve and the curve slopes in both directions until it drops precipitously. Moreover, there are other factors that keep couples having sex than "preference", though certainly you wouldn't know it from the pornography industry. Finally, attraction to adult women is sustained only by maintenance of an approximation of nubility (if not actual nubility, since many women don't give birth until well into their twenties in some societies.) (See Symons.) This is a no-brainer.
"in the case of paedophilia and homosexuality, its reasonable to seek an alternative explanation for the deviations from this norm."
Again, you have misidentified the "norm." And by stating it incorrectly, you lead yourself into the cul-de-sac of needing an explanation, when it's already there. (Leave homosexuality aside.)
"its entirely possible that both minority preferences are functionally adaptive and have been selected for"
Except that no one has come up with any credible explanation. (I've read them all. They convince no one.) Meanwhile, sexual "preferences" for too-young girls don't necessarily NEED an explanation. Evolutionary psychology provides the most elegant answer. (I guess you would have to believe in Occam's Razor.)
I proposed that it is gene expression that causes interest in younger persons on the basis of the Symons article. You did read it, right?
Cheers.
