Dante's nasty illness of the last few days was clearing.
The Job got progressively better through the day.
He encountered two sets of very cute LGs paced approximately at points one-third and two-thirds of the way home.
Dante finally settled down to wrestle his taxes into shape; and for the first time in years found everyone owing him a refund.
He payed his bills and scrounged another hundred for GC.
Both sets of LGs were being accompanied by Parental Units. The first group had two sisters with medium brown hair, cute snub noses and olive colored skin. The older girl was about 9 and had a pink hair band holding her curls back. In passing I heard her animatedly explaining the new rules of Punch-Buggy ⚠️ ↗.
I was unaware that there were any other rules than those which Ellen had introduced to me. I don't recall Punch-Buggy from when I was a kid. And thank Ghod, because when I was a kid there were enough VW Bugs that my arms would've turned gangrenous and fallen off before I ever found a "better" use for them.
The second LG was considerably younger; four, possibly three. She was wearing a long pink dress and had long straight brown hair.
In passing I hear her say, "You wun, wun, wun, and get dizzy."
Then I realized that she was describing the purpose of the walking maze ⚠️ ↗ nearby.
I do believe that JD has previously described the near encyclopedic knowledge that most wee ones have of natural opiate release triggers; and spinning yourself dizzy is no exception.
I also thought about her natural derivation of the proper rhetorical rule of threes ⚠️ ↗. While threes usually emphasize through linking similarly worded variations of the same thought, triplication has been noted as a means of defining a Platonic ideal rather than a specific case. Art Spiegelman analyzed the ubiquitous "three rocks" drawn in Ernie Bushmiller's comic strip Nancy by declaring that two rocks is a few, four rocks are overkill, but three rocks connote the category "Rock" and are ideal. The same reasoning applies to other cartooning threes like freckles usually being grouped three per cheek.
In later years she will probably be chided for unnecessarily duplicating her verbs. And she'll likely be told that she should find a more appropriate activity than her spontaneous rediscovery of the spiritual exercises of the Mevlevi ⚠️ ↗ order of Jalal ad-Din Rumi. But for now the accumulated wisdom of the ages is her birthright.
Yup it was a pretty good day.
