Of course, Sci Fi written years in the past will show silly thinking. I take that into consideration when I read "Roads Must Roll", etc.
There were character studies that I found pleasing. There were political concepts that I agreed with, some I did not. There were story plots I liked and some I did not. I did not like Stranger In A Strange Land's plot but I enjoyed the story. I liked the scenes and mini plots to it, as well.
RAH was a bold writer, too, for his time. Sex was undercover but definitely there.
By the way, those of you who have read RAH's works, just who was (the first) Dora? (I walked that dusty road after the fire many times, with Lazarus, Buck, and her!) And, who were the twins that weren't? What were Joe and Estrellita doing on that ship? Who'd a thunk that Andy Libby was a very blurred character? And what about Minerva? Who did she really love? What about Lazarus and Maureen? Laz and Lor with Lazarus? How old were they? He addressed it quite clearly. You wonder why *I* read so much of this?
Heinlein dove head first into the concept of "love" in its myriad forms.
Yeah, Bob Heinlein was rightly called the Dean of Sci Fi.
So, I'll leave you guys here to ponder for a while and I'll go get out my salvaged space suit and go looking for a Lummox.
Cheers.
