You know, I would disagree with you on this on so many levels. But there's an incident with me which would validate this opinion of yours.

Back in my drinking days there was this guy who liked to play chess. When I got drunk I played better. I for whatever reason when drunk was more patient and thought out strategy better. Now I wouldn't suggest this would be the case for everything because it wasn't, but for chess it was.
