It's just a case of any authority doing what they do best - trying to hold on to power.

Those in power in the legal system (DAs, prosecutors, judges, etc) don't want anyone knowing about this, because it would undermine their power base.

It's a simple case of protecting self-interests.

Read some Machiavelli - that'll explain some stuff!
