Sancho, there's lots of words which employ the names of other countries, but which aren't used at all in those very countries.

Ferinstance, some of the phrases in English which employ "Dutch," are belittling; like "Dutch courage" ( drinking to work up one's nerve, ) or "going Dutch" ( inviting someone on a date where they pay their own way.)

Another "Dutch Uncle" refers to a non-relative friend of the family who mentors their "nephew."

Others are complete misnomers. The Pennsylvania Dutch are the Amish; in this case they're Deutsch ( German ) religious immigrants.

In English a "Danish" is a pastry. But its not called that in Denmark....
