You need to spend some time in France.

Seriously.

You can legitimately say France goes too far. The USA don't.

And even supporting such an anachronistic reading of the Constitution as "Congress shall make no law respecting one Christian sect over another", it obviously clashes with the fact on the ground that half the Americans are not Christians.
