i mostly agree with you Furcifer. i just think its a bit too easy to just stick a word in quote marks if it threatens to undermine your argument.

it would be more honest if we tried to account for the reality of child sexual abuse in our discussions. it exists, it's far from rare, it's a horrible thing for kids to have to deal with and it's existence impacts on us, whatever our attitude to it might be.

so we should be able to discuss it seriously, without the quote marks. that's all i was trying to say.
