It is just a surprise note that nobody has mentioned Dakota on Marie Claire.

Haven't bought the issue - but the cover looks appealing.

Demi also looked good on Teen Vogue. And really lookaliking my friend who looks like her (a very nice girl, btw, best known around here for being a fundie Christian and a dog lover than her Demi looks, but hey)

And do you remember Kelly MacDonald, of Gosford Park and Trainspotting fame??

I always loved that, with her water-straight raven hair and darkish skin, she didn't really look Scot - while at the same time having the loveliest accent I have ever heard.

Of course, in Trainspotting she played a jailbait character while not being jailbait herself. Wisely, because of the steamy sex scene she participates in.

Today I saw her lookalike. She was a little darker complexioned than Kelly. And way younger - tweenie. But she had the same "where is she from" look - that context and "shallow visual clues" tell different stories. I give you this physiognomy lesson partly because of the recent controversies about the Nazis, and, implicitly, about race, on GC. There is something almost transhuman about a girl who you can't really pinpoint. Although I could deduce a lot from context because I saw her in RL, the girl I saw, if I saw her in, eg, her own model site, totally devoid of context I would have trouble saying if she was Southeast Asian, Native American, Rroma (Gypsy), Latina or Indian. She could plausibly pass any of these.

That aside, I, again, hate to say this, but I wonder how and why it's so difficult to understand girls' psychology

She never emphasized her appearance - not her perfect shorty hair, not her well shaped legs, not her pretty face except at one single very specific moment when she knew it counted more - and right then she pushed her puffies out and up, creating instant but ephemeral hills on her white sweater. The rest of the time she had been indistinguishable from flat.

What is so hard to understand??????
