It's not about the species; at least, not for me. I wouldn't eat dog (or any carnivore) and there's a bunch of things I don't eat, but I don't think I have any right to regulate other people's foods.

My point is the method. Though I don't really know how they kill it, I am still sure that dog meat in Asian butchers is not drowned to death; and I am sure the girl wasn't killing the dogs in order to eat them. Had she simply broken their necks by twisting them, I wouldn't have a problem*. Same as I don't have a problem eating bull meat but I do with Spanish bullfighting.

* That too depends on the species. If the species were endangered (dogs aren't), I would have a problem no matter the method. Or if the species were on average more intelligent than the average human with senile dementia (sorry guys, dogs aren't), then I would have a problem too.

Well, yes, I would have a problem in that it still is gratuitous violence. But as far as gratuitous violence goes, it is also very far from the worse thing that can and does happen, so I wouldn't put it ahead of, for instance, all the cops who shoot family dogs when they raid a home (see, I didn't have to change species, and shooting is actually a more humane method if circumstances were the same).
