Fact is animals often have to suffer in a gruesome way before they end up on someones dish in Asia.
Skinning cats and dogs alive for their fur is also common practice in China.
Dogs are usually strangled by hanging them.
One example below in the link, there are also vids but you don't want to see them, believe me.

being drowned in a river is a merciful death compared to this I think.
Recording the action and obviously having fun while doing it is something is disapprove BTW.
