A GM; Rescue fantasies; a ping to Agent X-Ray

I've enjoyed your GMs and it's only fair that I return the favour.

I was walking through a shopping mall that was only busy at weekends, and this was a weekday so no one else was around in that particular wing. There was a restaurant just inside one of the entrances, off to the side, with only a waist-high half wall separating the restaurant from the wing of the mall, just high enough to mask the booths and provide privacy for those dining.

Suddenly a beautiful little girl popped up from behind the wall, facing out into the mall, like a mole in a whack-a-mole game. She looked around, spotted me, and immediately lit up in a huge grin. Our eyes locked, I grinned back, and we held each others' gaze as I kept walking. She had long brown hair and dark eyes, and seemed to think it was the greatest thing in the world that she had popped up and found and connected with me. I did as well, and though I kept walking, I kept her huge smile with me the rest of my day. It was a good day.

Rescue fantasies: I've read Sarah Goode's book (twice now, and there shall doubtless be more posts from me about it as it raises as many questions as it answers) and there is a brief section wherein several of those MAAs responding reported having fantasies of rescuing a child from some sort of peril, and it occurred to me that I did that as well, and not infrequently. These fantasies are daydreams, do not involve anyone I know, and are _never_ sexual. I'd like to know how common this is (read: Do you do this too?) among MAAs, and perhaps your thoughts as to why these happen.

My guess is that I am somehow sorting out feelings of helplessness regarding girls I know whose parents neglect them and feed them McDonalds and shout at them constantly and don't buy them books and so on, yet nothing illegal is occurring regardless of the fact that these poor girls are being mistreated. That is just a guess.
