Beautiful story, and so sad. I have had similar things happen to me. It's so disappointing, so frustrating, so maddening, when the parents "poison their minds" as you said. You know it -- you had no intention of abusing her in any way. You simply wanted a friend. You wanted that bond between two equals. You wanted that platonic friendship. And the parent doesn't understand. Rather, the parent teaches the child to be scared of all men.

It's disheartening, I know. For me, though, I 've found that even though many parents are like this, some are not. Some accept these relationships. I have learned to just enjoy the few relationships that I do have the opportunity to have. I'll enjoy the opportunities that are given to me, and don't dwell on those that are taken away.
