Kirsten almost knocked me back into my car seat late yesterday afternoon as I was getting back out of the vehicle I had just started to retrieve a cup of coffee I had left on the roof of my car. All she really did was run up and startle me in an effort to say Hi before I drove off. I was glad I had not yet grasped said coffee mug. Though I had been hurriedly on my way to last minute mail my tax voucher and Cashier’s Check to pay down my share of the deficit, I was thrilled to see her. Believe me; if she had tackled me I would have welcomed the body contact. I was also pleased that she seemed so eager to say hello. She could have just shouted and waved as I drove off. Am I reading too much into her body language.

Kirsten was a sweet vision too; bare of arms and wearing a sleeveless brown striped tan cardigan vest over a show all there is to see No Place like home coordinated tan and gold tie-dyed tee shirt. Said funky tee shirt was tucked into light brown Ruche shorts and Target tights-which completed her outfit but were a little out of character with sneakers. She needed low cut heels to MAKE the outfit simply beg passers bye to try to pick her up. But, then, she would not have looked as innocently appealing-nor would she be if she knew the message heels convey when worn with an otherwise mildly modish outfit that would not cause mom to frown down disapproval.

Hating the tax man with all my heart, I was aware of the need to get a postmark. I guess she saw that in my face as I nervously tapped my envelop as she talked of an article in the news about the community improving the waterfront in preparation for a new year of high expectations among the entrepreneurs who benefit when we have a human flood of visitors three seasons a year. Yes, for those of you who live elsewhere, autumn’s deciduous broad leaved turning of colors among the oak, maple, beech, and elm is especially pretty throughout most of North America and is a celebratory event among communities hungry for celebratory events-not that our’s is. We just like tourists who have stacks of credit cards and empty out ATM’s-like the U.S.Treasury just reverse Robin Hooded my savings.

Being dressed in a pant suit didn’t help me feel any sexier than losing my money. To put the finishing touch to the possibilities that otherwise may have turned her welcome into a romantic acknowledgment of how much her greeting boosted my spirits at a time when they needed a lift, her mother called out her name. Kirsten sighed, and in a soft voice said only the word Wednesday. Then she turned and obediently walked down my driveway toward her mom's voice. I grasped my luke-warm coffee mug. Yes. Wednesday her mother returns to work with another new shift-10AM to 10PM. Maybe? Just maybe Kirsten and I could arrange to share a meal and an early movie. Time will tell. I won’t. ;-)

Thinking of the risks and shaking my head. Gotta need to put Mom at ease.

Patiently, ξms
