GM Waiting

Finally done with work, I was sitting on a bench, waiting for the train home. It was nearly lunch time, and I was running purely on caffeine.

Suddenly, I had to blink and wonder if I was already dreaming. A young tanned brunette of about 6, wearing a white, short summer dress, revealing quite a bit of her shapely legs, and a big smile, revealing a gap or two, was heading my way. She sang happily to herself, in an unknown tongue. She gazed intensly at me, her eyes the color of rich dark chocolate. Lost in her eyes, I felt an unfamiliar strain in my face - a real smile. Her small arms wrapped around me and she hugged me tight. I hugged her back, gently stroked her back, let my fingers play with her hair, warmed by the sun and smelling of exotic fruits.

Her parents appeared, told her gently but firmly: "C, we have to go".
Before she disentangled, I whispered "C, you're a beautiful and sweet girl. Thank you so much".
Her eyes went momentarily sad, as she said "Bye bye"

We kept waving goodbye, smiling and looking into each other's eyes until her
family was swallowed by the crowd.
