How would you have liked it? Naked, and accompanied by lingering kisses on the mouth? That's how I would have liked it! LOL

Some kids are more "huggy" than others. Some kids are shy and won't talk much to strangers, while others are talkative, but not necessarily "touchy-feely," while yet others do like hugging, etc. I knew one 12yo who hugged me on a couple of occasions with very little provocation. I suppose it was just her way of showing affection or gratitude.

You paid attention to the girl at the party, and made her laugh. Sometimes kids don't always get the attention they want from adults, and so when an adult does take them seriously, they are happy about it and like that adult.
