Another American remake of a French film.

American remakes are almost always worse than the foreign originals with rare exceptions ( Lake House was better than Il Mare. )

Now in this case the writer/director is on-board.

But even that is no guarantee. After all Dutch director George Sluizer came to America to helm the remake of The Vanishing which missed the whole point of the original.
