What he is legally compelled to do is wrong, of course, and I agree it's very much comparable to those historical examples you used, but he could be in extreme legal and professional trouble if he failed to do so. However, he does, to his credit, warn his patients about that from the get-go. It totally sucks, but it's the law, and there are a good number of MHPs who feel this aspect of the law does indeed compromise their ability to help and form a mutually trusting rapport with their MAP patients.

Also please note that Andrew did not accuse you of abuse; he put that word in quotations, making it clear that he was using the legal interpretation of the act, not his personal assessment of it. Please try to control your desire to lash out and hate for just long enough to see beyond your bitterness.

I'm sorry if my admonishments of you lately have made you feel that I am against you, or that you are now without friends around here, because that is all very much untrue. But in addition to you as an individual, I have to look out for the interests of the entire community, and that includes letting individuals know when I feel they are taking their anger too far, and in directions that are counterproductive to both them as individuals and the community in general.
