I agree with most of what you said here, Joey. Just one thing I ask you to consider:
He also informed you that he was playing devil's advocate a bit.
In all fairness to Gatekeeper as well as Andrew, keep an eye on Andrew just in case he decides to play devil's advocate more than just "a bit." I have seen that occur far too many times by people on these forums in the past for it not to make me wary whenever I hear it, but it's still early days for Andrew, and he is just learning how to negotiate his way in this community, so he is bound to make a few mistakes early on. Let's see how he does after a bit more time passes.

In that particular instance, I think it was fair. And so far it was the first and only time he's done it, so I don't think his aim is to second guess every single thing we do here. That's not to say that we don't have our own group think, confirmation biases, and logical fallacies that can be respectfully challenged by intellectuals and professionals like Andrew. All groups, even us, experience these phenomena. We're not above reproach, even if we are highly sensitive to these criticisms and perceived criticisms, as most groups who have experienced discrimination, prejudice, and persecution tend to be.
It's reminiscent of how coming from the African-American community, I know some blacks who believe the logical fallacy that blacks can't be racist. Mainly in the sense that they have no institutional powers with which to discriminate against other people. Of course that argument has lost some weight with the ascension of Barack Obama and many other powerful political/societal figures who are black.
The average girl lover may assume that the sex was consensual. The average anti or non may assume that the sex was not consensual, or even if there was consent, it's irrelevant due to age. Personally, I don't have enough facts to reach a conclusive opinion. I can make assumptions, but I can't ensure that they would be accurate.
It's also worth noting that regardless of consent, it was illegal, which placed both the man and the girl into a position of potential trouble. Breaking the law showed bad judgment, as well as contacting her via such a public and insecure method of communication as Facebook. Frankly, I would consider this case to be Darwinism in action. Of course that doesn't mean that I condemn this man or think he should be subject to draconian laws and sex offender registries.
